LaRete Art Projects Julia Draganović, Elena Forin and Claudia Löffelholz are the curators for the 23rd edition of Art Miami, Miami's historic fair of contemporary and modern art, and for the inaugural edition of CONTEXT Art Miami, the strictly contemporary branch of the fair. For Curators' Choice at CONTEXT Art Miami, Julia Draganović and Claudia Löffelholz have chosen a total of 14 artworks and installations out of 35 proposals to be shown in the public areas of the show which offer insight into emerging artistic practices and bodies of work by artists that have successfully started their career abroad, but are only now on their way to being discovered in the United States. The Curators' Choice takes us on a tour of discoveries in different scales. From Camille Iemmello's poetic installation to the over-towering spinning top sculpture by Alexandre Arrechea, from the huge wall designed by Rero to the fresh mix of various media and artistic expressions cover real-time paintings by Speedy Graphito as well as multi-media installations by Pia Maria Martin. The selection is purposely heterogeneous in an attempt to display the large array of contemporary approaches expressing new visions of a generation of artists that remain powerful and independent against all contrary prophecies of globalization's conformism.
